I think it's unfair to criticize Miles Taylor on what may have been his first effort to organize a mass event. Even if his child wasn't sick, why would anyone want to haul their ass to another show 2 days before their own?
He has been in the forefront of our democratic crisis and has risked his career, family and financial stability.
I watched some of the beginning of State of the Swamp and heard some of the rerun during the SOTU. It wasn't the most entertaining of events, but it had the air of people doing their damndest to counter the despotic and incompetent governance we have right now.
Perhaps your words were tinged with sarcastic humor, something I am familiar with, as I was once known to use and later told it was hurtful.

I think Lilo is a working dog that isn't being exercised & challenged enough.....he can run for hours
