It sounds like a case where the coverup or blowup is worse than the initial crime. I expect political influencers to be paid somehow including by these pacs. For those calling themselves journalists I get a bit more touchy about their funding. I am glad Lorenz shone a light here. The scandal is minimal, but good to know about, and she should not be getting attacked.

There are some kind of bots or operatives out there working to amp Lorenz, I had an "entity" call me a blue MAGA for defending Chorus...nothing but ad hominem attacks. That said, I'm really surprised WIRED gave this air. I did that primarily because of these two pieces of information:. https://www.tiktok.com/@briantylercohen/video/7543792589342805262. You might want to look at this too. It's from a Chorus recipient who does good work around farming issues: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5UwwtrGdak&ab_channel=FarmtoTaber . As to the "soft power" red herring, is it really problematic that a donor should want to stay in touch with those it gives money to? Truly this "scandal" seems the usual double standard requiring more liberal actors to be without any suggestion of transgression, even if there is no real transgression. Lorenz made this out to be a massive breach of trust in a way I would classify as click bait.
