I am more offended by the "F" word, than I am about a universal Western acceptance of the expression of time, followed by A.D.

The allusion to the "F" word, i.e. "forking," is silly. You are living in the 60's era of rebellion against the moral values of the Eisenhower Generation. It's time to grow up.

I will not cancel over such nonsense, however, because there is so much of value in your discussions.

When Holly and Ben ask, "Does Catholicism have a version of Prosperity Gospel" - my best way of answering that as an American Catholic would be.... No, but also yes.

Like, the actual teachings of the Catholic Church - what you'll hear priests talk about during sermons - is very much NOT Prosperity Gospel. There is more an idea that living in harmony with the Lord gives you the wisdom and understanding to navigate life's difficulties. Living virtuously helps you be open to receiving the guidance of the Holy Spirit, but that doesn't mean that life is going to be filled with blessings as earthly rewards. In fact, at least two or three times a year, I'll hear some homily about how "Good Behavior = Good Things for You" is a kindergartener's approach to religion, and we're not supposed to treat God like he's Santa Claus dispensing presents to the good and bad things to the wicked.

That being said, the American Catholic Church, by the nature of being American, does have a lot of Evangelical cultural influence on some parts of it. The clergy might not promote the Prosperity Gospel attitude, but you can definitely find it amongst the congregation.

Really? Such minutiae is itself an annoyance. I listen for Ben and Holly’s analyses of interesting subjects. The Greek Chorus is a plus!

I find the "year of our lord" annoying & have never complained out of respect
