Good Morning:
Ever since I wrote my meditation on the back of Donald Trump’s head, I have been trying to get a good back-of-the-head sketch of the man. I have failed. I am a terrible artist, for one; dreadful, in fact. And the back of Trump’s head it weirdly hard to draw, in any event, as his hair doesn’t all go in the same direction.
But yesterday, I had an assist. The estimable Quinta Jurecic came to court and did a raft of sketches—including one of the The Head.
Today’s #BeastOfTheDay is this rare deep-sea creature who values its beastly privacy.

Yesterday’s stare-down between Justice Juan Merchan and witness Robert Costello has lot of people talking about the normally-mild judge.
As I have mentioned the judge only in passing, so far, I would like to take the occasion of yesterday’s fireworks to offer some thoughts on his performance to date—and to say a few words in his praise.
