The oil industry will be around a very long time. As long as things move against bearings they will require lubricants. Along with all the plastics we use for almost everything.
Here in California the use of HOV lanes by EV’s not carpooling is expiring the end of this month. I see this as a celebration for how widely accepted EV’s have become as to be nearly ubiquitous. In fact the white Tesla Model Y is nearly at the level of the old VW beetle of the 60’s. OK, maybe not quite that popular here. Would likely be even greater if Elon were not involved.
